The outstanding popularity of baccarat and VIP baccarat in the southern Chinese territory of Macau is fueling gambling revenues in the island. Based on official figures, the money collected for the concept of Baccarat represents 86% of the total gambling revenues generated in Macau.
These events have not passed unnoticed to the international gambling community, especially after the news that Macau's gambling profits overtook those of the 40 casinos in another important gaming city last year. Since then, many gambling operators have been attracted to invest in the island, like MGM Grand that opened a resort in Macau last month.
The figures released by Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau show that the incomes generated for the concept of chance games in Macau rose to 10 billion dollars in 2007, a lot more than the 6 billion collected in 2006.
The phenomenon of Baccarat is well reflected in the portion of the industry devoted to the game, since 80% of all tables in Macau’s are dedicated to it.
